The Route The easiest way to get here is by plane to Lisbon, Porto, Faro (in the Algarve) or Madrid, Spain and then hire a car for the remaining journey. It is also possible to get to Marvão by train from Lisbon or Madrid. In order to reach Quinta da Saimeira personal transportation is a must, however. From Lisbon, Madrid Castelo Branco, or Faro continue in the direction of Marvão. A few kilometers before Marvão you arrive at a roundabout in Portagem: follow the signs to Marvão. After a few kilometers of curvy uphill road you pass a sign indicating that you have left 'Jardim' on the right-hand side of the road (Jardim with a red slash through it). After a few more curves you will encounter a left hand turn (it's the first one after 'Jardim')--turn left here. Take the first right after about 70 meters signposted 'Vale de Rodão'. Then after about 40 meters take the first left-hand turn. This small tarmac road quickly turns into a dirt road for a kilometer. Don't hesitate, continue down the road until you see the white posts of our gate.
